Catching Up ~ 2007-03-06

I haven't posted since Saturday. Where have my days gone? Nothing exciting has happened, I just haven't been able to sit long enough to type.

Saturday I took advantage of the warm temperatures and walked each dog separately. That took from 11:30 AM until after 4:00 PM. I have a sexy new blister on my heel. The pooches slept like rocks that night! I am hoping to get them back into a walking routine that will allow me to take everyone at once. That will take some time after the winter pampered pooch break.

Saturday night we went out with a new couple to eat at our new favorite restaurant - The Bamboo Forest. Again it was very good and light. I hate walking around after eating like I have a cinder block in my gut. Unfortunately I got a headache that would have brought a giant to his knees - smoking is allowed in the casino and we played slots in the regular area (not the non-smoking one). This made a very crabby Yvonne until the ibuprofen could work.

Sunday was a little chillier and I was pretty sore so there were no walks. The pooches slept most of the day away - lazy creatures!

Yesterday I worked at the barn. I ended up staying for 6.5 hours which allowed me to do all the scrubbing and cleaning they wanted me to do and then groom some horses before the afternoon classes. I am SO sore. It's weird, my ankle joints are killing me. I think it's because I chose four horses that were on the larger size. One of the horses is a draft and his shoulder is above my head - which doesn't even include his neck and head height. I also chose two of the fiestiest males. I think picking these guys is good experience for me. One made an excellent attempted to bite me and I gave him the evil mama eye with the finger point and a scolding of "no sir." The barn manager was standing there talking to someone else and said it would have seriously hurt if he got a hold of me. She then said to the other worker she liked how the horses never frazzle me. (Yay for compliments!)

The furry beasty kept looking back like he wanted to bite but didn't open his mouth again. I guess the evil mama eye transcends all language barriers. I thought he finally gave up giving me a hard time when he whipped his tail around and wrapped me around my face, like I was a pesky fly! The barn manager just about fell on the floor laughing. She said he always tries to get the last word. Not this time though because he allowed me to groom him top to bottom including mane and tail brushing and a good hoof cleaning. He has a notation on his chart about not allowing people to pick his feet but he didn't give me an ounce of trouble. The tail smacking must have been very satisfying for him!

I came home exhausted but was able to stay up for Heroes. I had no idea there was going to be a break (until mid-April) before the next new episode. I hate when series do that. I always tell Hubby when we find something we like we should just TiVo the season and then watch it in a marathon session. A good theory but only if people wouldn't talk about the episodes the next day. It's alright though, by the time the next episode is shown it will be WARM outside, unlike the 10 F it is today. We have a wind chill of -10. I hope it warms up considerable before tomorrow's barn work. Brrrr, I am so ready to be done with winter!
